Stories and Flavors of Communism + Museum of Communism

This premium tour is a first-hand experience of Bucharest’s recent history and culture, that was deeply influenced by the Communist Era. Explore the  main communism-related landmarks of the city and enjoy a visit at the Museum of Communism in Bucharest, led by an expert English or Spanish-speaking local guide. Skip-the-line entry and admission at the museum included.

The tour dives into the complex history of communism in  Bucharest and will provide you with a deep understanding of the communist ideology, from the international context that led to its implementation, to the dawns of the Revolution of 1989. Each stop reveals hidden details you might miss on your own and personal stories about day-to-day life under the communist regime.

Landmarks include the Palace of Parliament, as well as churches that were forcibly relocated to make space for Ceausescu’s new urban plans, and the Revolution Square, where Nicolae Ceausescu held his last public speech before *spoiler alert* being publicly killed along with his wife, Elena.

The museum visit includes a communist snack and a cup of the so-called “nechezol”, a coffee substitute popularly drank during the 80s, when Romanians endured dramatic food scarcity. All snacks / beverages are served in vintage communist tableware. Also, the museum allows visitors directly immerse themselves into history by interacting with exhibits.

Limited sports available due to group number limitations, be sure to reserve your spot as soon as possible.
